The government claims to provide hearse vans in every government hospital, but even today dead bodies are seen loaded on handcarts in many places. A similar picture has emerged from Bhagalpur. Here, two people are seen leaving from outside the railway hospital carrying the dead body on a wheelbarrow. On investigation, it was found that both of them were not going anywhere but to the post-mortem house by loading the dead body on a wheelbarrow. On enquiry, it was found that the body was unidentified. No one was going to see it. Were going for postmortem at the behest of the administration.

However, there was neither an employee nor an officer of the Railway Health Department with the dead body. There was no one to see the dead body except these two. The youth who took the dead body from the wheelbarrow to the post-mortem house was identified as Krishna Kumar, a resident of Uttar Pradesh. He lives in Bhagalpur and earns his living by driving a cart. On asking, he told that there is no hearse vehicle in the Health Department of the Railways. That’s why we have to take the dead body on a handcart like this for postmortem. In exchange for this, we get two paise.
Railways gives Rs 5 to GRF for hearse
Malda Division’s PRM Roopa Mandal said that the Bhagalpur Railway Hospital has arrangements for a hearse. Railways gives 5000 rupees to GRF that you take the dead body on the hearse van, if it is unclaimed then get it cremated. In such a situation, if GRF is not providing the dead body, then we will get it investigated. Railway team is taking this matter seriously. Despite giving the amount, if arrangements for the hearse vehicle are not being made, then action is bound to be taken on it.
