The SDRF team has recovered the bodies of three out of four people from near Jaitipur in Sonpur police station area. The recovered bodies have been sent to Hajipur Sadar Hospital for postmortem by the police of Sonpur police station, where after the postmortem the bodies will be handed over to the family members.

Villagers said that the deceased include Nagendra Rai, son of late Devsharan Rai, resident of Baburvani village of Sonpur police station area, Mrityunjay Kumar Rai, son of Virendra Rai and Bhishan Kumar Rai, son of Umashankar Rai. Villagers said that Bhishan Kumar was about to get married. SDRF team is conducting a search operation to find the fourth body.

Regarding the incident, the villagers said that due to the high water level and the high tension wire being bent, the heads of two persons on the boat touched the bent wire. As soon as the wire touched, current started flowing in the entire boat. During this, there was an atmosphere of panic among the people on the boat. Due to the sudden panic in the boat, the boat started swaying and then the boat lost balance in the strong current of the river and overturned in the river. In this incident, Baburbani college employee Bhushan Rai and railway employee Kameshwar Rai got badly burnt. The local people admitted them to the subdivisional hospital of Sonpur for treatment.
