A girl who had come to attend a wedding in Patna died due to drowning in the Ganges river. Her five other friends who were taking bath together also started drowning while trying to save her. As soon as the people who were bathing around fell, they started saving all of them. In this sequence, 4 girls were somehow taken out safely with the help of people around, while one girl died due to drowning. The incident is of Digha Ganga Ghat under Digha police station. The deceased has been identified as Ayushi Gupta (15), a resident of Bokaro Chas Ispat Colony.

Digha Police Station President says that Ayushi had come to attend the marriage of her family members in Parsa, Patna. This morning Ayushi along with five other girls had reached Patna’s Digha Ghat to bathe in the Ganges. All the five girls went down to bathe in the Ganges. Meanwhile, due to heavy water and strong current in the river Ganges, the girls started drowning. Seeing them drowning, the people taking bath in the vicinity somehow managed to get four girls safely out of the river Ganga by risking their lives. While a girl died after going into deep water.

Dead body removed in an hour

As soon as the information was received, there was an atmosphere of chaos around. The local people informed this to the Digha police station. After getting the information, this information was given to the SDRS team at Digha police station. SDRF team reached the spot as soon as the drowning was reported. SDRF team officer Ashok Kumar Yadav said that after searching for about an hour, the body of Ayushi Kumari drowned in the river could be pulled out. The police station chief said that the family members took Ayushi Kumari to the PMCH in Patna thinking she was alive, where the doctors declared Ayushi Kumari dead.
