Every year lakhs of Buddhist devotees, Buddhist monks and foreign tourists from different countries come here. In the sanctum sanctorum of the Mahabodhi temple, people pay obeisance to Lord Buddha and meditate under the Mahabodhi tree. A donation box is kept under the statue of Lord Buddha in the sanctum sanctorum. Where the coming devotees put money in the donation box. In the sanctum sanctorum, Buddhist monks have been kept under the supervision of the Bodhgaya Temple Managing Committee. CCTV cameras have also been installed in the sanctum sanctorum for security reasons.

Meanwhile, BTMC Secretary Dr. Mahasweta Maharathi said that action will be taken if found guilty in the investigation. The case of theft by a Buddhist monk will be investigated. If the said monk is found guilty, then BTMC will take action.
