District Agriculture Officer Gyanchandra Sharma said that the maize of Kosi is of very good quality. Therefore, it is in great demand in other states of the country. Maize is grown in 36 thousand hectares in Saharsa. The production per hectare is 75 to 90 quintals. This is even higher than the national production. Protein, amino acids and anti-oxidants are found in the maize of Saharsa. The maize of this place is used for animals as well as humans. Poultry feed, cow feed, pig feed and Kurkure are prepared from it. Railways are also getting a lot of benefit due to transportation by rail. The government is considering setting up a processing unit here.
