First the people of the city were troubled by the foul smell of fat and then the slaughter house operators poured the fat directly into the drains. Hathras DM and regional officer of Agra Pollution Control Board had expressed their displeasure regarding this. After this, the pollution control board at the local level got the drains examined and fat was found in them. The drains were cleaned. Eight slaughter house operators had dumped fat in Aligarh drain and another drain three months ago. The drains were made dirty by flowing water without treating it. Due to which oil and fat had accumulated in the water.

When the Pollution Control Board investigated and issued a notice, the drains were cleaned. However, it is not known where this debris was dumped into the drain. The Pollution Control Department will now investigate the disposal of debris from the drain. Notices will be issued in this.
