Expansion

Biparjoy storm can hit the coast of Gujarat with a speed of 155 to 160 kilometers per hour. It is expected to cause huge devastation. During this, there can be heavy damage to buildings, trees and plants. Telephone company towers can also be damaged in a storm. This can disrupt warnings and aid information reaching people. But the Telecom Department has prepared such a plan that even after the towers are affected by the storm, the emergency information received by the people is not affected.

what are the solutions

The Department of Telecom has facilitated the interconnection of network services in the storm-affected areas for the expected days of the storm i.e. June 15 to June 17. That is, if a telecom company’s tower is damaged, it will be able to continue its services using the towers of the associate company. If the tower of any company is damaged, its services will be transferred to the towers of other companies in that area.

The biggest problem in the continuation of telecom services may be the impact of electricity services. Power service may be affected by uprooting of power lines or poles. In this emergency, the telecom companies have ensured availability of additional diesel on their towers, so that information continues to reach the people even if there is no power supply for two-three days.

Voice-message services will continue

Similarly, arrangements have been made to provide emergency information to the people even without internet connection. During this time people will be able to send text messages to each other even without internet connection. The Disaster Management Department is also making efforts to disseminate all emergency information through internet based and non-internet based mediums. Continuously giving information to people to escape from any area and keep essential items with them.

carry the radio

Somewhere in all these services, a network is required. But the continuation of radio services does not require a network at a very local level. It can also be delivered to people through distant networks. This is the reason why people have been advised to keep radio sets with them in case of an emergency, so that the central-state government can be successful in conveying necessary information to them.
