Lata Mangeshkar Birth Anniversary: A year after the country became independent, a film came which gave two big stars to the Bollywood world, Dev Anand and Lata Mangeshkar. Dev Anand had done many films before this too, but he got recognition from this film. There is another but very interesting story of Lata ji.
We will talk about that story, first let us talk about Lata ji who is considered to be the incarnation of Saraswati. cricket love of. There is a famous dialogue in a movie that if you want to see patriotism in India, you will get a good glimpse of it on three occasions. First on 15th August, second on 26th January and third when the Indian cricket team has landed on any field.
O people of my country, Lata ji, who brought tears to the eyes of the country’s then Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru (this fact is also mentioned in Lata ji’s biography), then how could she not prove herself on these occasions of patriotism. Despite being an empress herself, she has also been a fan of Sachin Tendulkar like a common man. This has also been seen on many occasions.
Lata ji had such a passion for cricket.
What is the state of cricket craze in the country, what can we say more about it. Everyone knows this. Lata ji also had the same madness which reached the extent of madness. Yatindra Mishra, who has written a book on him, has written about this in his book. ‘Lata: Sur-Gatha’ I have told you properly.
He has told that after India lost in cricket, his mood became so bad that it took a long time for him to recover again. Recalling an incident during the time of writing the book, Yatindra had written in his blog-
“If someday Sachin Tendulkar is playing and the team loses, then understand that the talks are going to be in a state of pause for weeks. It was only cricket which stood as a stumbling block in my book ‘Lata: Sur-Gatha’.
Along with SD Burman, Mahendra Singh Dhoni was also a part of the discussions.
Yatindra further recalls the chirping of the cuckoo again in the mind of Swara Kokila. She tells how she used to be happy when India won the match. He writes-
“Every time Lata Didi spoke after many days, freed from her fascination with cricket, her voice included the joy of how India had won the previous match brilliantly. And then S. Mahendra Singh Dhoni also used to walk in comfortably while D. Burman was talking.
Now the interesting story which was left incomplete above.
In fact, when ‘Ziddi’ was released in 1948, Swara Kokila’s name was not included in the disc of the film. The reason was that at that time the name of the singer was not known, hence Lata Didi’s name was also not known. The name written on the disc was ‘Asha’.
There should be no misunderstanding here as to whether this was the name of his sister Asha Bhosle, so let us tell you that actually the name of lead actress Kamini Kaushal’s character in the film was Asha. So the music company printed the same name.
That era was such that the names of actors-actresses and directors were given credit but singers were not given credit. But the fate of the music world had something else in store. As if the creator did not want that a talent like the 8th wonder of the world should remain lost somewhere. That’s why it happened that people liked that song so much that actress Kamini started getting appreciated as a singer.
However, Kamini did not like this because she did not want to eat away anyone’s credit. He requested the recording company to give credit to Lata ji. The company agreed and Lata ji started getting the recognition she deserved. Kamini Kaushal herself had also mentioned about this in an interview.
Had to face rejection in the beginning
The voice of Lata Mangeshkar later became an identity. Actually it was like Amitabh Bachchan’s height. Just like Amitabh Bachchan had to face rejection in films initially because of his height, similarly Lata ji also had to face rejection because of her thin voice.
S Mukherjee, producer of Dilip Kumar’s film ‘Shaheed’, had rejected his audition for the film saying that his voice was very thin. However, later Lata ji’s hard work got her a position which for any singer around the world is like breaking Sachin’s unique records in the cricket world.
Lata ji, who has been singing since the age of 13, sang more than 50 thousand songs in 36 different languages in her very long career of 80 years. This was the reason why he not only received the best honors like Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhushan, but his name was also registered in the ‘Guinness Book of World Records’.
