BJP has announced the names of 22 out of 26 candidates in Gujarat for the Lok Sabha elections 2024. Among the 22 candidates announced by the party, tickets of 10 sitting MPs have been cut. Whereas candidates are yet to be declared for four seats Mehsana, Surendranagar, Amreli and Junagadh.

The youngest face in the BJP list is Dhawal Patel from Valsad. The party has fielded Dhawal Patel on the Valsad seat reserved for Scheduled Tribes. Dhawal is currently the social media incharge of BJP’s National Scheduled Tribe Morcha. Dhawal is a resident of Surat and has done MBA. Dhawal Patel has 12 years of experience working in global MNCs. Patel has been working for the Scheduled Tribe community in South Gujarat for the last 15 years.

At the same time, BJP has canceled the ticket of Union Minister of State for Railways Darshana Jardosh from Surat seat and has given ticket to Surat City General Secretary Mukesh Dalal. Whereas for the third consecutive time, MP Ranjanben Bhatt has been given a chance from Vadodara seat. BJP has canceled tickets for three women candidates in the second list and has given tickets to two women in front of them. Former mayor Neemu Ben Bambhania has been given ticket on Bhavnagar seat.

Sources say that there are many reasons for the ticket of Darshana Vikram Jardosh, who was a two-time MP from Surat, being canceled. The party had given him such a signal six months ago that this time his ticket in the Lok Sabha could be cut. Internal discord is being said to be a major reason behind this. His not getting along well with state BJP president CR Patil is also a big reason. It was also revealed in the internal report of the party that the textile traders of Surat were also not happy with the work of Darshanaben Jardosh. This situation existed when she herself was the Minister of State for Textiles at the Centre.

Sources say that a large number of people from Maharashtra, Bihar and UP live and do business in Surat. As Minister of State for Railways, she could not do much for these people. Apart from this, lack of speed in the development work in Surat and poor treatment of people are also being cited as the reasons for their tickets being canceled.

The party has fielded Mukesh Dalal in place of Darshana. Dalal has been a councilor three times and chairman of the standing committee five times. The amiable broker has been the director of the oldest Surat People’s Bank for twenty years and the chairman in its centenary year.
