The Lieutenant Governor has once again appointed BJP councilor Satya Sharma as the presiding officer for the MCD Mayor elections. This appointment has been made to conduct the mayor election process. Satya Sharma has been appointed to this post keeping in mind his administrative experience and efficiency.

Satya Sharma had earlier also been made the presiding officer for the mayor elections for the first time in the year 2023 after the MCD elections held in December 2022. At that time there were many controversies regarding his appointment and due to some of his decisions there was a huge uproar in the MCD House. Aam Aadmi Party councilors had opposed his steps. Due to this, the election of mayor was not possible in many meetings.

Aam Aadmi Party had alleged that being a BJP councilor, Satya Sharma took some steps which could have benefited the BJP. However, BJP had termed these allegations as baseless.
