After 9 rounds of counting on this seat till 2 pm, Congress candidate Bunty Baba Shelke was at the first position with 37515 votes, while BJP candidate Datke Praveen Prabhakarrao was at the second position with 26638 votes. He was trailing Bunty Baba by about 10 thousand votes. Independent candidate Ramesh Ganapati Punekar was at third place, who got a total of 16140 votes. Here the BSP candidate was at fourth position.
BJP has been winning here three times
If we talk about the past results of this seat, it has always been considered a stronghold of BJP. BJP is registering victory from here thrice. In the 2019 assembly elections, Vikas Shankarrao Kumbhare of BJP defeated Bunty Baba Shekley of Congress. This time BJP had given a chance to Praveen by canceling the ticket of Vikas Shankarrao. In 2014 also, Vikas Shankarrao Kumbhare had won this seat. Then he defeated Anees Ahmed of Congress.
