Seven BJP candidates will file nomination in the Rajya Sabha elections on Wednesday. All the candidates of the party reached Lucknow on Tuesday evening. Party’s State General Secretary Govind Narayan Shukla said that Sudhanshu Trivedi, RPN Singh, Amarpal Maurya, Tejveer Singh, Naveen Jain, Sadhna Singh and Sangeeta Balwant will file nominations on Bind Basant Panchami Wednesday under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and State President Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary. .
On this occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, government ministers and party officials will also be present.
BJP may field eighth candidate
Amidst the ongoing tussle in the Samajwadi Party, BJP may field its eighth candidate in the Rajya Sabha elections. After RLD joining NDA, BJP’s numerical strength has increased.
On the other hand, SP MLA Pallavi Patel has announced not to vote. BJP has got an inkling that some other SP MLAs may also rebel. In such a situation, BJP has started work on the possibility of fielding an eighth candidate. This issue will be discussed with party state president Bhupendra Chaudhary and election in-charge Baijayant Panda on Wednesday.
