Karnataka Polls 2023: There is a possibility of assembly elections in Karnataka before April. This time BJP has set a target of clear majority in the state. In the special executive meeting of the party held in the first week of February, the workers were asked to mobilize for this. BJP has prepared a special plan ‘5 B’ for the state. A lot hinges on the success of this plan for the BJP.
There are 224 assembly seats in Karnataka. Despite being the single largest party in the 2018 assembly elections, it failed to form the government. BJP got 108 seats, but this number was 9 less than the majority figure. After this, the Congress, which won 80 seats, and the Janata Dal Secular (JDS), which won 37 seats, formed the government together.
what is plan 5b
BJP’s Plan 5B has to focus on those five districts where 72 assembly seats come. These five districts include Bengaluru, Belgaum, Bagalkot, Bidar and Bellary. In the year 2018, BJP could get success in only 30 seats in these districts. Congress had won 37 seats, while JDS won 5 seats. This time BJP does not want to make any mistake here and has already started on strategy for this.
There was a shock in Bangalore
In the 2018 elections, the BJP, which had a foothold in the urban areas, suffered a major setback in the capital Bengaluru itself. Bengaluru district has a total of 32 seats including urban and rural, but in 2018 BJP got only 11 seats. All these seats were found in the Bangalore city area. There are 28 assembly seats in the urban area.
Belgaum district has 18 seats. In the last election, BJP got 10 seats here. The party won 5 out of 7 seats in Bagalkot. The party had suffered huge losses in Bidar and Bellary as well. Out of 6 seats in Bidar, only 1 seat was won, while only 3 out of 9 seats in Bellary came into account. This is the reason why BJP does not want to keep any weakness in these areas this time and has prepared a special strategy for this area and has started preparing for the elections.
