There has again been a dispute between the Aam Aadmi Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party on the education model of the Delhi government. The Delhi government has announced free JEE-NEET coaching for children studying in Delhi government schools from this session. On the other hand, the BJP has raised a question that when Mathematics and Science are not taught in most of the schools in Delhi, then which children is the government talking about providing free coaching.

Atishi Marlena, who is handling the education ministry after the arrest of Manish Sisodia, said on Sunday that the Delhi government will provide free JEE-NEET coaching facility to its children. With this, children will get an opportunity to develop equally as compared to children studying in private schools on expensive education.

Education Minister Atishi held a review meeting with the flagship project team on the implementation of the Delhi Model Virtual School for the academic session 2023-24. Admissions for this session for Virtual School are going to start soon. On this occasion, the minister said that from this year onwards, students in Delhi Model Virtual School will also be given free coaching by experts for competitive exams like JEE and NEET. In the new session, facility of job oriented courses will also be provided from Delhi Model Virtual School.

BJP said attack

Delhi BJP state president Virendra Sachdeva said that the Arvind Kejriwal government only works to pat itself on the back by making announcements. He said that most of the schools in Delhi do not have the facility to teach Mathematics and Science. In such a situation, most of the students are not eligible to appear in the JEE-NEET exam.

He said that a large number of schools do not have principals and teachers. Children are not getting proper education, but instead of removing this failure, the government works to pat itself on the back by making free announcements. The BJP leader demanded that the Kejriwal government convene an all-party meeting to discuss ways to improve the education system and take measures to address the grassroots problems of children.

Sachdeva has alleged that out of every 100 students studying in class 9th in Delhi’s government schools, between 30 and 50 don’t appear for the class 10th exam. Similar drop out pattern is seen in 11th to 12th also. This year the results of classes IX and XI have been so bad that the Directorate of Education has issued a circular asking teachers to review their answer sheets. Time has been given till April 6 to increase the number of successful students.

He said that children are being forced to pass with 33% marks. He said that the reality of these cases would come out only when a detailed investigation of these cases is done through an all-party committee and a report is presented on it.
