Amitabh Bachchan-Sridevi God Gawah Kissa: Shahenshah of Bollywood i.e. Amitabh Bachchan and late actress Sridevi have once been the most popular stars of Hindi cinema. During that time, every other actor wanted to share the screen with Amitabh Bachchan to further his career. Although Sridevi was adamant that she would not play a second role with Amitabh Bachchan, in fact Sridevi wanted to be a part of women centric films. In such a situation, Big B had to struggle a lot to convince Sridevi for the 1992 film ‘Khuda Gawah’.
Amitabh Bachchan had showered flowers on Sridevi
Satyarth Nayak has written a book ‘Sridevi: The Eternal Screen Goddess. This book narrates the incident when late choreographer Saroj Khan had revealed that Amitabh Bachchan had showered flowers on Sridevi who was working on a song with him. Quoting Saroj Khan, it is written in the book, “When the truck came, we were filming a song. He made Sridevi stand near it and bowed his entire career and showered roses on her. It was quite visual.
This beautiful gesture of Amitabh Bachchan impressed Sridevi a lot but she was still not convinced because she felt that there was not much for her to do. Then she placed a condition that she would act in a film with Big B where she would play the role of both Amitabh’s wife and daughter. Filmmakers Manoj Desai and Mukul Anand gave in to them and thus both the superstars were cast together in ‘Khuda Gawah’, which was one of the biggest hits of their filmography.
Big B-Sridevi were signed for this film also
Before Khuda Gawah, Ramesh Sippy had also signed Sridevi and Amitabh Bachchan in his film ‘Ram Ki Sita Shyam Ki Geeta’, in which both had double roles. Even the chartbuster song “Jumma Chumma” was considered to be part of the film. Revealing the placement of the song in the film, Saroj Khan shared in the book, “In this sequence, Amitabh played a policeman and he catches a pickpocket girl i.e. Sridevi red handed. When she asks what bribe she can give him, he asks for a kiss.”
However, this film never went on floors and later this song was filmed in the 1991 film ‘Hum’ starring Amitabh Bachchan and Kimi Katkar.
Amitabh-Sridevi shared the screen together for the last time in ‘English Vinglish’
Let us tell you that the last time we got a chance to see Amitabh Bachchan and Sridevi together on screen was in Gauri Shinde’s 2012 film ‘English Vinglish’. While Sridevi played the lead role in the film, Big B was seen in a special cameo.
