Br Chopra Made Mahabharat on a Loss of Rs 2 Lakhs A Weeks Producer Renu Chopra Chopra Reveals Shocking Details

Mahabharat loss: Mahabharata is one of the historical shows of TV. The show ran from 1988 to 1990. BR Chopra’s son Ravi Chopra directed the show and produced by BR Chopra. Nitish Bhardwaj played the role of Shri Krishna in the show. At the same time, Mukesh Khanna played the role of Bhishma Pitamah. Rupa Ganguly was made Draupadi. This show was very much liked.

Now Ravi Chopra’s wife Renu Chopra has talked about Mahabharata. He told that Rupa was not the first choice for Draupadi’s role. Actress Juhi Chawla was signed for this role. But if Juhi could not do this show, Rupa was signed. Apart from this, Renu told that while creating Mahabharata, he also had to suffer losses.

Disadvantage in creating Mahabharata

In a conversation with Pinkvilla, Renu Chopra said, ‘After the first two days of episode, the company was giving us 6 lakhs. And in the first episode itself, it cost 7-8. So Ravi went to his father and said that I cannot make it anymore. No matter how much I do, it will not be made in 6 lakhs. So he said, you are happy with what you are making? He said yes. So BR Chopra said that you make it from the heart, do not worry about money, money will come later.

Further, Renu Chopra said, ‘So when we were actually making, there was a loss of 2 lakh rupees every week. Later, things were a little cured. I am sitting here because we had Mahabharata.
