In Bareilly, the brother-in-law of a young man, taking the name of Lalla Gaddi, demanded extortion of Rs 1 crore from him and threatened to kill him and make the body disappear if he did not pay. A report has been lodged against five people including four named in Subhash Nagar police station.

Nekpur resident Pushpendra Pal told the police that his sister had a love marriage with Vivek Mehta, a resident of Cantt BI Bazar, in December 2022. Pushpendra ended relations with his sister. Alleged that brother-in-law Vivek is very powerful and has connections with miscreants.

Vivek and his father etc. threatened him and started demanding money to get the house built. Seeing his life in danger, Pushpendra took a personal loan and deposited Rs 2 lakh in his sister’s account on July 21, 2023. Even after this, when Vivek’s father threatened him, he again sent him some money.

According to Pushpendra, recently his land was acquired by BDA, in return for which he received compensation. As soon as they got wind of this, Vivek Mehta, Jagdish Mehta and Vivek’s mother became active on the phone again. Started demanding Rs 1 crore from him. An attempt to kidnap was made when the money was not paid.
