BSNL has launched the new logo and slogan only last year. The government telecom company has launched its 7 new services with this, which include Spam Free Network, ATS Kiosk and D2D service. Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited has currently introduced D2D i.e. Direct-to-Device service on a trial basis. In this, calls can be made even without any SIM card and mobile network.
Know what is this D2D technology?
Let us tell you that this service of BSNL connects mobile devices like smartphones, smartwatches and other gadgets through satellite. It does not require any terrestrial mobile network. BSNL has partnered with Viasat for D2D service. Its trial has been completed a few days ago. Through this, users will be able to make audio-video calls directly from the mobile device without a SIM card.
Jio, Airtel are also included in the race
Like BSNL, Jio, Airtel, Vi are also working on satellite connectivity service. Apart from this, Elon Musk’s company Starlink and Amazon have also applied to provide satellite service in India. However, both these companies have not received approval from the Department of Telecommunications i.e. DoT.
Government is preparing for the allocation process
At present the government is preparing for the process of spectrum allocation for satellite connectivity. The Department of Telecommunications has sought suggestions from industry stakeholders regarding its pricing and allocation. After receiving the feedback, the process of spectrum allocation will be completed, after which BSNL, Airtel, Jio and other players will be able to start their satellite services. It is expected that people will benefit greatly from this.
