This Jalebi is special in itself, because the fans of this Jalebi are not only in Azamgarh city but also people coming from neighboring districts.
Jalebi is made from sugar syrup prepared from date jaggery.
Chothiya Jalebi available at Buddhu Chacha’s shop is not prepared with sugar syrup but with syrup made from date jaggery. The biggest feature of this Jalebi is its deliciousness. By the way, Jalebi made from sugar syrup is also available here, which people also like. But, most of the people like Chothiya Jalebi here. Its taste is different from other jalebis and people like it a lot.
People come from other districts in search of shops
Shop operator Vivek Kumar Gupta told Local 18 that this shop is more than 70 years old. The shop was started by father and people knew him as Buddhu Chacha. He was the one who invented this recipe of Jalebi. From then till today, Buddhu Chacha’s Jalebi is the first choice of the people of Azamgarh. He told that people come from far-flung cities in search of Buddhu Chacha’s Jalebi shop. Apart from Azamgarh, whenever people come from Banaras and Lucknow, they search for Buddhu Chacha’s Chothiya Jalebi shop.
Up to 60 kg of Jalebi is sold daily
Vivek Gupta told Local 18 that there are some special customs, who come here every day to eat Jalebi and also take it for their families. He told that on an average 50 to 60 kg of jalebis are sold every day. During fairs etc. the sale of Jalebi increases four times. At that time 150 to 200 kg of Jalebis are easily sold. People like the jalebis made at Buddhu Chacha’s shop very much. This is the reason why Buddhu Chacha’s Jalebi is very famous in Azamgarh district.
