There is a discussion of paper leak in the whole country at this time. The youth are angry that they prepare so hard, but the gangs that leak the paper spoil all their hard work. Well, today we will not discuss the current paper leak cases, but will tell you how once the country’s budget itself was leaked.
When did the budget leak happen?
According to a BBC report, in 1950, the country’s budget was leaked before it was presented in Parliament. This matter caused uproar in the entire country. Due to this, the then Finance Minister John Mathai was removed. After this incident, the place where the budget was printed was also changed.
Actually, till 1950, the budget was printed in Rashtrapati Bhawan, but when the budget was leaked, it was decided that now the budget will be printed in the press located on Minto Road in New Delhi. This printing happened till 1979. After this, from the year 1980, the budget started being printed in the printing press built in the basement of North Block. Even today the budget is printed here.
Employees get imprisoned in the basement
Before the presentation of the budget, there is a Halwa Ceremony. After this ceremony, about 100 employees related to the Finance Ministry and the Budget are confined in the basement of the North Block, where the printing press is located. These employees stay here under tight security for a few days. When the budget is presented in the Parliament by the Finance Minister, then these employees are allowed to contact their families. This is done so that the budget does not get leaked again like before. However, things are becoming modern now. The budget briefcase has been replaced with a red bag and the budget is now read from a Made in India tablet instead of reading it from paper.
