A fire broke out on the second floor of a building in Uttam Nagar area on Monday afternoon after a cooking gas cylinder exploded. The fire spread to other floors of the building. A young man living on the second floor got burnt in the accident. To save herself, a girl jumped from the first floor and got injured. The explosion was so strong that the kitchen wall collapsed. A young girl living in the neighbourhood got injured after being hit by it. The family members admitted the injured to different hospitals. Four fire engines reached the spot and controlled the fire within an hour and a quarter. The police is investigating the matter.
Fire officials said that on Monday afternoon around 2.15 pm, the fire department received information about a fire after a cooking gas cylinder explosion in a house in Sanjay Enclave of Uttam Nagar. As soon as the information was received, four fire engines reached the spot. Due to the narrow street, the fire engines could not reach the building. After parking the vehicles outside, the firemen took the pipe to the building. The firemen saw that the fire broke out after a cylinder explosion on the second floor of a four-storey building built in 42 square yards. The kitchen wall of the second floor also collapsed due to the explosion. Also, the fire spread to the third and fourth floors above.
During investigation it was found that Suman lives with his family on the second floor. Suman’s son Kunal has been burnt in the accident. As soon as the fire broke out, 11 year old Surabhi who lives on the first floor jumped down from the first floor to save herself. Due to this she got injured in her leg. Police officer told that after the blast, 22 year old Reena who lives in the neighborhood also got injured after being hit by the falling wall. She has got injured in the head. Injured Kunal has been admitted to Safdarjung Hospital. Whereas, other injured have been admitted to a nearby private hospital by their family members.
