Can it ever happen that the train slips off the track?… Know what is the answer

Indian Railways: Indian Railways is one of the largest rail networks in the world. In this network of about 68,103 km long, railway tracks are laid in every corner of the country. 13,523 trains run on it daily. In which many super fast passenger trains including slow speed goods trains are also included. The train always runs on the tracks. On these small tracks, these trains carry loads of several tonnes and run at high speed. But, have you ever thought that due to which the train running with so much weight and high speed does not derail?…. Today in this article, we will tell you that due to which the train derails and how the track system works?

Why does the train derail?
First, let us know that due to which the train derails. There are many reasons for train derailment, the main ones being mechanical fault or failure of equipment on the railway track. For this, crackling of tracks, loosening of the equipment that holds the train compartment, expansion in the gauge is also the reason for the overturning of the train. Apart from this, many times the train derails due to breaking of the axle which drives the bogie of the train.

Due to the continuous running of trains on the tracks, the friction caused by the track also deteriorates and accidents happen. Apart from this, traffic signals and sudden braking also disturb the balance of the train.

Why doesn’t the train derail even after traveling at such a high speed?
If the reasons mentioned above are not there for the derailment of the train, then the train does not derail. The reason for the train not derailing even after high speed is the balance of frictional force. If the downward frictional force is less than the upward force or simply say that there will not be the right balance between the two, then the wheel will start slipping.

The tractive effort is maintained in the train, due to which the wheel of the train does not slip. Actually, the special system of the railway always keeps the force applied by the engine on the wheel less than the limit of frictional force and due to this the engine does not slip.
