What does the Motor Vehicle Act say?
Actually, smoking or drinking alcohol in a public place is a legal offense. In such a situation, when your own vehicle is on the road, it is also considered as a public place. Now if you are found smoking while sitting in the car, the police will issue a challan against you and you will not be able to give any explanation for this. Therefore, along with drinking alcohol while sitting inside the car, smoking cigarettes while sitting in the car is also a legal offense under section DMVR 86.1 (5) / 177 of the Motor Vehicle Act.

The fine could be this much
Under section 86.1(5)/177 of the Motor Vehicles Act, if you smoke in a car or in a public place, you can be fined Rs 100 for the first time and Rs 300 for the second time. These rules have been made to stop smoking in public places. Apart from this, the police can issue you a fine of up to Rs 500 for driving under the influence of alcohol and drinking alcohol in public.

Do not smoke in a CNG or LPG vehicle even by mistake
If you have a CNG or LPG powered vehicle, then you should completely avoid smoking while sitting in it. Doing this can cost you more than your pocket. If you are not aware of the gas leak in the vehicle, then smoking can cause it to catch fire immediately and take your life.
