India Canada Relations: Justin Trudeau government of Canada is continuously adopting anti-India stance. In fact, Justin Trudeau is under attack from all sides for banning an Australian media outlet in Canada for showing the press conference of Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar. Australia Today has slammed Trudeau regarding the ban, saying that he will not bow to pressure from the Canadian government. At the same time, the editor of Australia Today said that Trudeau is behaving like a dictator.
India accused Canada of hypocrisy, saying Canada blocked the social media account of Australian media outlet “Australia Today” after it telecast the press conference of S Jaishankar and his Australian counterpart. India claims that in that press conference, S Jaishankar had given a statement regarding the deadlock in India-Canada relations. It was telecasted on Australia Today channel. After which the outlet was blocked.
India closed all High Commission camps in Canada
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that this handle had been banned just an hour or a few hours after it telecasted the press conference of S Jaishankar and Penny Wong. He said that we are surprised, this seems strange to us. Still, I would say that these actions once again expose Canada’s hypocrisy towards freedom of expression.
Jaishankar had cited three things
The External Affairs Ministry said that you must have seen that Foreign Minister Jaishankar had cited three things in his media program in Sydney. The first thing is that Canada made allegations and without any specific evidence a pattern developed. Secondly, Indian diplomats were being monitored in Canada, which is absolutely unacceptable. Thirdly, anti-India elements were given political space in Canada, so you can guess why Australia Today was banned by Canada. .
