COVID-19 Cases In India: The Center issued an advisory to the states on Monday (December 18) in view of the increase in coronavirus cases and the detection of the first case of JN.1 variant in India. States have been requested to maintain constant monitoring of the Covid situation.

States will have to report and monitor district-wise SARI and ILI cases on a regular basis. States were advised to ensure adequate testing, including large numbers of RT-PCR tests. Also, it was advised to send positive samples to INSACOG laboratories for genome sequencing.

Where was sub-variant JN.1 found in India?

According to reports, the first case of Covid-19 sub-variant JN.1 was reported in Kerala on December 8. A 79-year-old woman was found infected with it. A few days ago, an Indian passenger in Singapore was also found infected with the JN.1 sub-variant. He was a resident of Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu. The person had traveled to Singapore in October.

260 new cases of corona registered in the country

According to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Monday (December 18), in India corona virus 260 new cases of infection have been registered, while active cases have increased to 1,828. According to the data updated at 8 am, the number of people who lost their lives due to Corona was recorded at 5,33,317.
