Age Of Child For Class 1 Admission: Many major changes are taking place in the field of education under the National Education Policy. The foundation of some changes has been laid and preparations are underway for some. In this sequence, the Center has instructed all the states and union territories that the age of the child for admission in class one should be fixed. The age limit for this has been fixed at 6 years. The Center has said that schools in all states should see that the age of the child for admission in class one should not be less than 6 years. This age limit is proposed under NEP 2020 which was also discussed last year.
Instructions were issued last year also
Last year i.e. in the year 2023 also, a letter in this regard was prepared by the Education Ministry and sent to the states. Again the Department of School Education and Literacy of the Ministry of Education has repeated its instructions. A similar notice has already been issued and now it has been issued again.
Age should not be less than 6 years
In a letter issued by the Ministry of Education on February 15, it has been said that the admission process for the academic session 2024-25 is going to start soon. In such a situation, it is expected that in all the states and union territories, the age limit of the child for admission in Grade One will now be increased to 6 plus.
These states have exemption
In the year 2022, the Center had told in the Lok Sabha that there are 14 states and UTs in which even if the age of the child is not 6 years, they can get admission in Class One. Their names are – Assam, Gujarat, Puducherry, Telangana, Ladakh, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Goa, Jharkhand, Karnataka and Kerala.
