Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, approving the proposal of the state government, has decided to increase the annual income limit for students under the economically weaker section from Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 5 lakh. After this, now those students whose parents’ annual income is up to Rs 5 lakh will be able to get admission in EWS category.

This decision was taken in a notification issued from Raj Niwas on Monday. This step was taken after the order of Delhi High Court dated December 5, 2023. In which Delhi Government was instructed to increase the income limit from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh.
The Delhi government had sent a proposal through the Chief Minister at the end of October, in which there was talk of increasing the income limit to only Rs 2.5 lakh. However, the Lieutenant Governor, while approving this proposal, had advised the Chief Minister to increase this limit to at least Rs 5 lakh.
