Chaitra Navratri 2024: Hindu New Year starts from Pratipada Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Chaitra month i.e. Chaitra Navratri. Chaitra Navratri is also called Vasant Navratri or Chaiti Navratri. Method of Ghatasthapana on Chaitra Navratri
According to Shastri, the place where Chowki Ghat is to be established. First of all cover that place with cow dung. Sow barley in a big earthen lamp. Install this lamp at the place of worship. Now take a Kalash made of clay, copper, silver or gold as per your wish. Fill water and put betel nut, coin and lump of turmeric in it. Now place coconut along with betel or Ashoka leaves on top of this Kalash. Install this Kalash at the place of worship. Also keep some wheat under the Kalash. Worship the Kalash with Abeer, Kumkum, flowers and rice. First of all worship Ganapati, then invoke Mother Goddess and worship all the planets.
Rules of worship on Chaitra Navratri
- Establishing Kalash in Chaitra Navratri is considered very important, it is said that where Ghats are established, there is annihilation of sorrow and poverty and by the grace of Mother Durga, one gets sweetness in married life and happiness of children.
- In the houses where Ghatasthapana is done during Navratri, there should never be darkness and the house should not be left deserted.
- If Akhand Jyot is lit then keep adding oil or ghee to it carefully. The Akhand Jyoti should burn continuously for 9 days.
- Do not keep dirt in the house during Navratri
- Do not eat non-vegetarian food along with onion and garlic.
- It is forbidden to cut hair, nails and shave for 9 days of Navratri.
- The fasting person should not wear black colored clothes during Navratri.
- Worship the Mother Goddess as per the rituals in the morning and evening.
- Eat only satvik food during Navratri.
