The audience had high expectations from Akshay Kumar’s film Samrat Prithviraj. In this, Akshay played the role of Emperor Prithviraj. The film was released on 3 June 2022. Manushi Chhillar was seen in the lead role with Akshay. Sanjay Dutt, Sonu Sood and Manav Vij were also part of it. Whereas it was directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi.
There was a lot of buzz about the film before its release. Because Akshay was going to play a historical character. However, when the film came on the big screen, the situation turned upside down. Akshay’s look in the film was criticized a lot. On the other hand, Akshay’s acting was also rejected. The film did not do well at the box office and proved to be a disaster. Let us tell you that the budget of this film of Akshay was Rs 200 crores. But it could not even figure out its budget. It collected only Rs 90 crore worldwide.
Akshay Kumar cried when ‘Samrat Prithviraj’ flopped
Regarding the failure of the film, Samrat Prithviraj’s director Chandraprakash had said in a conversation on actor Mukesh Khanna’s YouTube channel that along with criticism of Akshay’s look, people had also raised questions about the age gap between Akshay and Manushi. According to the director, Akshay had tears in his eyes when the film was a disaster.
