Chest Beating on Moharram: In Afghanistan, a country governed by Sharia law, the Taliban regime has banned beating the chest and killing oneself on Muharram. The Taliban have made strict laws regarding Muharram, which say that mourning groups are now prohibited from killing themselves. Along with this, beating the chest on Muharram is completely prohibited. Those who disobey the orders have been warned of severe punishment. Before making the law regarding Muharram in Afghanistan, consent has been taken from Shia religious leaders.
Rules made regarding Muharram in Afghanistan-
- According to the new Taliban rules, Muharram celebrations will be held only in mosques or places specified by government officials and Shia scholars.
- In Shia populated areas, mourning ceremonies should be held only in Shia mosques. Flag hoisting ceremonies will be held only under special circumstances.
- Mourners have been asked not to come in groups. Mosques must close their doors after mourners enter. Mourning ceremonies will be held behind closed doors.
- Lamentations and other audio should not be played during the mourning ceremony. Flags should be hoisted only near mosques.
- Any kind of political slogans, inappropriate photos or writing of terms of other countries on flags and posts is strictly prohibited.
- The place where the flags will be distributed should be decided in advance. Sunni Muslims should not be invited to these ceremonies. Chest beating is prohibited in the ceremony.
It is being told that before making these rules in Taliban-ruled Afghanistan, a proper meeting was called and signatures of Shia religious leaders were also taken on the consent letter. The Taliban clearly said that they run the law under Sharia law. Under this law, making fun of any person will not be allowed. Strict action will be taken against those who do not follow these conditions.
