Chewing gum being made sweet by adding sugar in ‘Shiddat’ – News18 Hindi

Review: Dilip Kumar was a good actor. His brother Nasir did not go. Ashok Kumar and Kishore Kumar were good actors, but Anoop Kumar did not work. Sunil Dutt was a good actor but his brother Somdutt did not work. Something like this can happen with Sunny Kaushal who is Vicky Kaushal’s brother. By the way, Vicky Kaushal is also known more for his acting ability than for the House of Josh in “Uri” or currently as Katrina Kaif’s boyfriend. Sunny Kaushal’s first film ‘Shiddat’ as a lead actor belonging to the film family has recently been released on Disney+ Hotstar. The film is good in pieces, the rest is being made sweet by adding sugar to this chewing gum filled with popular formulas.

Joginder Dhillon aka Jaggi (Sunny Kaushal) is a hot-headed guy. In any marriage, drinking and eating free liquor enters. Plays hockey, laughs all day long and nothing makes a big difference in his life. Goes with his friends to stalk the girls’ swimming team, clicks their photos without asking and charms one of the swimmers, Karthika (Radhika Maidan). He falls in love so much in a few days that he goes to London to marry her. Many obstacles come in his way to go to London illegally. With the help of Gautam (Mohit Raina), an Indian Foreign Service officer in Paris, Jaggi tries many tricks to reach Kartika, such as swimming the 560 kilometer long English Channel to reach London from France. Karthika can never believe that someone can love her so much. It seems like good news for the boys who chase the girl all day long when love for Jaggi awakens in Kartika’s mind too. Will Jaggi and Kartika be able to meet, will Jaggi’s fervent wish come true, one has to watch the film to see this.

Let’s start with acting. Sunny Kaushal looks like a boy from Delhi. Luffander variety. Manchale Shohde. There is only one answer to every problem – Hey, what a big deal! They also throw away the act of taking photos of girls while swimming and making them viral through social media. Plays part time hockey and seeing the girl also gives motivational coaching to win in swimming. Sunny has played the role with full sincerity but its side effect will be that she will probably get similar roles. It might be difficult to see him in any role other than a college Punjabi boy. Father Shyam Kaushal has been a stunt master in Hindi films. Sunny also roams around with six pack abs and does not hesitate to take off all his clothes. In the last moments of the film, Chehra becomes a little serious and he really starts to look like an illegal immigrant.

The character of Radhika Madan has been strongly crafted. New age girl. She sneaks into the boys’ locker room and clicks pictures of them taking a bath. Confusion is maintained throughout the film. She is a girl of today’s time. Even if one night is spent with an unknown boy, there is no worry about commitment the next day. The expressions on the face are also good, but all the expressions start to look almost the same. She has also done overacting in the last scenes, in which she looks completely uncomfortable. What were Mohit Raina, Diana Penty and at least half a dozen actors and characters doing in the film? Why were his characters written at all? It has come to notice for the first time that people working in the embassy take illegal immigrants to the city at their convenience. Mohit Raina’s acting is good, the role is utter nonsense. Diana Penty should give up all dreams of acting, it is not in her control.

The story is jointly written by Sridhar Raghavan and Dheeraj Ratan. Some things become clear after watching the film. The characters would have been created by Sridhar and their activities are the brainchild of Dheeraj. Dheeraj has written at least one and a half dozen Punjabi films till now and his impression is visible on all the scenes of Sunny. The dialogues written by Pooja Ladha Surti are good, especially the parts of Sunny Kaushal. Mohit Raina’s mouth does not like the words of philosophy. The whole focus is on Sunny Kaushal, so he has his share of funny conversations too. The music of this film is by Sachin Jigar and is better. However, due to the OTT release, the time for music promotion is less. Sri Lankan singer Yohani, whose viral song “Manike Mage Hithe” has gone viral, has also sung a song in the film. Although the qawwali “Akhiyan Udeek Diyan” was sung by Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, its recreated version has been extensively used in the film and Yohani has also sung the same song. The title track of Shiddat also sounds good.

This is the first film of director Kunal Deshmukh in which he has not cast Emraan Hashmi. Before this, he has made 4 films with Hashmi. Portions of Emraan Hashmi’s characters will be seen in Sunny’s character. Direction is good. The problem is with the story. The characters are not to be trusted. Stalking the girl, finding crazy ways to flirt, then falling so madly in love that doing the hardest things in the world to get the girl, meeting a messianic resident along the way. These are very tired story-plots. If the film had not been shot outside the country, then perhaps even seeing this much would have been difficult. After the sweetness of chewing gum is over, what is the fun of sweetening it by adding sugar to it?
