Ingredients for making green gram ghugni
Green gram – 1 cup
Tomato – 2-3
Cumin powder – 1 tsp
Coriander powder – 1 tsp
Turmeric – 1/2 tsp
Red chili powder – 1/2 tsp
Green chili – 1-2
Ginger – 1 inch piece
Cloves – 2-3
Cinnamon – 1 piece
Whole cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
Garam masala – 1/2 tsp
Green coriander – 2-3 tbsp
Mustard oil – as required
salt – as per taste

How to make Green Gram Ghugni
To make green gram ghugni, first cut tomatoes, green chillies and green coriander leaves into fine pieces. After this, coarsely crush ginger and green chillies. Now put oil in a pan and heat it on medium flame. When the oil becomes hot, add cumin and standing spices and fry it. After this, add finely chopped tomatoes and fry it until the tomatoes become soft.

When the tomatoes become very soft, add coriander powder, turmeric, cumin powder to it and mix well. After this add some water and green gram. With the help of a ladle, mix the green gram with the spices well. Now cover the pan and cook the ghugni for 5 minutes. During this, keep stirring it occasionally with the help of a ladle. After 5 minutes add garam masala and salt as per taste to the ghugni and mix.

Now it has to be cooked until all the water in the ghugni dries up. After this, put green coriander leaves on top of green gram ghugni and mix. Now turn off the gas. The flavourful green gram ghugni is ready. It can be served with rice, roti or paratha.
