- After taking over the throne, Shivaji got an army of only 2,000 Maratha soldiers, which he converted into 10,000 soldiers. The language of Rajkaj was Persian which he changed to Marathi.
- Shivaji gave birth to new techniques of guerrilla warfare and they alone were enough for thousands of soldiers. It was very difficult to defeat them in battle.
- Old people believe that Shivaji was named after Lord Shiva while some say that he was named Shivaji after the permanent deity.
- He always came forward for the rights of women. There should not be any shortage in the respect of women, it was always kept in mind in their state. Women were not allowed to be put in jail under his rule.
- Shivaji Maharaj established the Ashta Pradhan Mandal, a council of eight officers, who guided Shivaji on a variety of political and administrative issues.
- Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is said to be the first Indian king of medieval India to have his own navy. He launched his first naval campaign in 1665.
- Shivaji did not have formal education but he had good knowledge of Ramayana and Mahabharata and always believed in learning something new.
- He was strongly against religious discrimination and had many brave soldiers like Daulat Khan and Ibrahim Khan in his navy.
