Late Tuesday evening, a temporary water tank built at a brick kiln in Bhagwatipur village of Kapsethi police station area of Varanasi suddenly collapsed. A child taking bath at the tank died after getting buried under the debris. At the same time, four members of his family were injured. The injured have been admitted to a private hospital in Kapsethi for treatment. When the condition of another child became critical, he was referred to Bhadohi.
Ishaan alias Gunjan Jaiswal owns a brick kiln. A tank with a capacity of 5000 liters of water was temporarily built for the workers to drink and bathe. At around 6 pm near the tank, the family of a forest laborer resident of Hirapatt village of Sureri police station area of Jinpur district was taking bath. During that time the tank collapsed.
Apart from Sonu Banvasi (26), Master Banvasi (30) and Manoj Banvasi (25), Manoj’s four-year-old son Kallu and Sonu’s six-year-old son Vikas were buried under the debris. Quickly, with the help of JCB, the debris of the tank was removed and people were evacuated. However, by then Kallu Banavasi had died. The remaining people were seriously injured. After Kallu’s death, mother Jeera Devi’s condition was like unconscious. Meanwhile, after receiving information about the accident, Kapsethi police station incharge Rajeev Kumar Singh sent Kallu’s body for post-mortem. Said that action will be taken as per rules on the basis of complaint.
