Understand the case of satellite explosion
A few days ago, Russia’s satellite RESURS-P1 blasted in space. Due to this blast, this satellite broke into more than 100 parts which started moving here and there in space. This garbage was not only a threat to the International Space Station but also to China’s space station Tiangong. This is the reason why China had to prepare this shield for its space station so quickly.
China’s ‘Space Shield’
After the Russian satellite exploded, a large part of its garbage was rapidly moving towards China’s space station. Chinese scientists knew that if they did not protect their space station from this garbage, the damage could be huge. This is why two astronauts of the Shenzhou-18 mission were given the responsibility to install a shield around China’s space station as soon as possible under any circumstances.
Armour installed through space walk
These two astronauts installed this shield around the space station in just 6 and a half hours by doing a space walk. This is a record in itself. China has installed an armour around its space station to protect it from this garbage. On this, Scientist Liu Ming of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation while talking to the media said that the first task of the spacewalk was to install protective devices around the space station so that even if a small piece of garbage hits our space station, there is not much damage. Apart from this, these protective devices will also keep the cables and pipelines of the space station safe from the garbage of this satellite.
