Fire in China Shopping Mall: A major accident happened in China on Wednesday (17 July). A massive fire broke out in a shopping mall in the southwestern city of Zigong, killing 16 people. According to Chinese government media, a 14-storey building in Zigong city of Sichuan province caught fire. Due to this, many people got trapped inside the building. A video of the incident has also surfaced, in which black smoke coming out of the building can be clearly seen.
According to state media CCTV, as soon as the fire was reported, 300 emergency workers and dozens of fire engines were sent to the spot. Emergency workers carried out a rescue operation and saved about 30 people from the building fire. Local officials have been quoted as saying that initial investigation has revealed that the cause of the fire was construction work, due to which a spark flared up and then the fire broke out. However, no official statement has been released yet.
Instructions were given to find out the reason behind the accident
In a statement on Thursday, China’s Emergency Management Ministry asked rescue workers and provincial officials to find out the cause of the fire as soon as possible. Also, learn lessons from this accident so that such incidents do not happen again in the future. Such accidents have become quite common in China. Incidents of fire in buildings have been reported many times before, in which dozens of people have died. Not following the rules in building construction is the main reason for fire.
