‘China is better than India’, why did Donald Trump, who called PM Modi a friend, say this about Jinping’s country?

Former US President Donald Trump has accused India of imposing the highest tariff. He says that he will answer this if he comes to power. While delivering a speech on key economic policy on Thursday (October 11, 2024), he pledged to impose reciprocal taxes if he becomes President.

Taking the names of China and Brazil among those who impose high tariffs, Donald Trump said that perhaps America is the only one which generally does not impose tariffs. During this, Donald Trump also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and India. He said that America has very good relations with India and so do he. He also appreciated India’s development and the work done by PM Modi.

Donald Trump said in his key economic policy speech in Detroit, ‘Perhaps the most important element of my plan to make America exceptionally prosperous again is reciprocity. This is a term that is very important in my plan because we generally do not charge fees. I started that process with vans and small trucks etc… it was great. We don’t actually charge fees. China will impose 200 percent duty. Brazil charges huge fees. However, India charges the highest fee out of these.’

He said, ‘India charges too much. We have very good relations with India. Mine too. Especially with the leader (Prime Minister Narendra) Modi. He is a great leader. Is a great person. Really a great person. They’ve done a great job, but they probably charge a lot.’

This comment of Donald Trump was made by the Prime Minister earlier this week
