The results of the Gujarat assembly elections are out. This time the Bharatiya Janata Party has created a new record. In Gujarat, which has 182 assembly seats, 156 BJP candidates won the elections. BJP’s Shamajibhai Chauhan defeated AAP’s Rajubhai Karpada by 25,642 votes. BJP candidate got 71,039 votes while AAP got 45397 votes here. Congress’s Rutvikbhai Lavjibhai Makwana remained at number three. He got 43,332 votes, which was 25.94 percent of the total votes. There were six candidates, including the BSP candidate, whose deposits were forfeited. NOTA got 2,582 votes here.

Congress may have been at number three in this election but before that it is catching up. In the four elections held before this election, Congress has won two and BJP has won two. While talking about the overall performance, 17 elections including three by-elections have been held here so far. Out of these 17 elections, BJP has won five times from here. Whereas, the Congress was successful in winning this seat eight times. Twice independents and once each Janata Dal and Swatantra Party have won here.
