Chrisann Pereira Sharjah Drug Plant Case: Baker Anthony Paul and his associate Rajesh Bobhate, who were arrested on charges of implicating Bollywood actress Chrisann Pereira in a fake drugs case, have been granted bail by the Bombay High Court. Both of them were accused of cheating Chrisann Pereira and getting her arrested in Dubai.
Anthony Paul and his associate Rajesh Bobhate were accused of forcing Chrisann Pereira to smuggle drugs hidden in a trophy. Pereira then unknowingly took the trophy to Dubai, where she was arrested in Sharjah.
The accused have implicated a person earlier also
Let us tell you that apart from Chrisann Pereira, these two accused who were released on bail had also sent a person named Clayton Rodrigues to Dubai with drugs. This person used to work as a DJ and is currently serving a sentence of 25 years in Sharjah in the drugs case. In such a situation, Rodrigues’ family, with the help of the Government of India, has fought to appeal against Rodrigues’ sentence.
The court granted bail with this argument
Justice Manish Pitale, while hearing the fake drugs case of Chrisann Pereira, granted bail to both the accused today. The court said in its decision that this case is of 500 grams of ganja which is a very small quantity. Apart from this, the police has filed a charge sheet in the case and the accused have been in jail for more than 17 months. Because of this, there is no point in keeping them in jail now. Earlier, the Sessions Court had rejected Paul’s bail plea, after which he knocked the door of Bombay High Court.
