CJI DY Chandrachud On Meeting PM: Chief Justice DY Chandrachud has said that people should trust judges. Meeting someone from the government does not mean that any deal is being made with them. This type of meeting happens on different occasions. Only simple things are discussed in it. There is no discussion on any case. While answering questions in the Indian Express program ‘Adda’, the Chief Justice talked about several recent controversies.
What did the Chief Justice say:-
He said, “It was not wrong for the Prime Minister to come to my house for a private function. We keep meeting at many functions. When we meet someone from outside the judiciary, we talk normally. We do not discuss any case. Political The system should be mature enough to trust the judges.”
‘Meeting does not mean a deal’
The CJI also said, “We meet each other in happiness and sorrow. We go to weddings. When I was in the High Court, my mother passed away. The Chief Minister came to my house to express his condolences. We have to trust the judges that such meetings are not meant to make any deal.”
On prayer before the hearing of Ayodhya case
The Chief Justice said, “I talked about praying to God in a program. I don’t feel like hiding anything in this that I am a person of faith. I have my own faith, but it does not mean that I am against people of other faiths.” I will do injustice to you. We take decisions only on the basis of law and facts.”
