The anger of the students of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) over the removal of Diniyat questions from the syllabus of Class 11 entrance examination is not decreasing. On Saturday, there was a scuffle between the students and the proctorial team who had come to meet the Vice Chancellor in the administrative building of the university. The health of a student deteriorated due to the scorching heat. After much hesitation the group of students could meet the Vice Chancellor. In the matter of deletion of Diniyat’s questions, the investigation has been handed over to the committee for re-examination, the report of which is awaited.

A group of 15-20 students reached the Vice-Chancellor’s office with their demands including removal of Deeniyat questions from the Indo-Islamic syllabus of Class 11 entrance examination and other demands. He wanted to present his demands before the Vice Chancellor, but he was stopped from entering. The students got excited at this. Meanwhile, a scuffle started between the proctorial team and the students. Student Ghiyasuddin fainted due to the scorching heat. The commotion continued for a long time.

Students raised slogans against the university administration. The students said that their views were not being heard. Not being introduced to the Vice Chancellor. After the uproar, the students were introduced to the Vice Chancellor. In this regard, Proctor Prof. Mohammad Wasim Ali told that the students wanted to meet the Vice Chancellor forcibly, while the Provost’s meeting was going on at that time. He told the students that he could not meet them right now because the meeting was going on. Even after telling and explaining this, the students started forcibly entering the Vice Chancellor’s room, but were stopped. However, later the students were made to meet the Vice Chancellor.

He said that the demand letter has been taken from the students. Proctor said that on the orders of the Vice-Chancellor, the committee has been asked to re-examine the removal of Deeniyat questions from the Indo-Islamic syllabus. After the examination, the committee will give its investigation report, which will be placed before the Academic Council. People’s reactions to the questions will also be given. Then further action will be taken according to the report given by the Academic Council.
