A coach at Rockwall-Heath High School caused a scandal in his own school. This coach named John Harrell is accused of challenging high school level students to do about 400 push ups in 50 minutes during rigorous training. This matter is of January 6, 2023. According to the report of Audity Central, initially the students were to be punished with 16 push-ups for every mistake in a 50-minute session. Since there were a total of 23 mistakes, the students had to do a total of 368 push ups, that too without any break. Due to such severe punishment, the health of 26 players deteriorated and they had to be taken to the hospital.

Later it was revealed that this punishment of Coach Harrell was also given on small things like wrong dressing of children, talking to each other, wrong attitude etc. Many students had to be hospitalized for several days because of this, while Coach Harrell was sent on leave by the school. The matter definitely reached the court but no criminal case was registered against the coach. Some cases were settled out of court and work is underway to resolve some.
