Colombia is claiming its rights on this ship because it is sunk in its territorial waters, but now Bolivia is also claiming its rights on the ship, after which a legal battle has started between the two countries.

According to Daily Star News, this ship is said to contain 200 tons of gold, silver and emeralds. This ship sank in the Caribbean Sea in the year 1708. Bolivians say that a treasure was discovered by their slave ancestors. Bolivian government lawyer Mario Lancho said that we have enough rights and historical experience to claim rights on this ship. Intervening in this ship without Bolivia’s consent would be considered a form of plunder.

Colombia government is busy in extracting the treasure
Many claims are made about this ship, it is said that gold, gems and emeralds worth 4 billion to 20 billion pounds are sunk along with this ship. This ship named San Jose was given the name “Holy Grail” because it was carrying the most treasure at sea. The government of Colombia, claiming its rights over it, is now running a campaign to find it. Many companies are also claiming their rights on this.

American company is asking for share
After the sinking of this ship in 1708, in the year 1981, the American company claimed to have discovered this ship and also made a deal with Colombia. In 2015, Colombia’s President Juan Manuel Santos claimed that his Navy had discovered shipwreck at another location. After this, American company Armada filed a fraud case against the Colombian government. The company says that it has discovered the treasure, because of this the company has half the rights on the treasure.
