Corona Weekly Report: Now the present danger of corona in the country seems to be averted. In the last seven days, there has been a decrease of 27 per cent in the cases as compared to the previous week. For the first time in the last 13 weeks, a decline in corona cases has been recorded during seven days. Apart from this, a decrease has also been seen in active cases and positivity rates. However, some states are still working to raise concerns.
There was also a slight decline in deaths from the virus, with the death toll in the seven days ending Saturday falling from 160 the previous week to 131. India reported 53,737 new cases during April 23-29, compared to 73,873 in the previous week.

As in the past several weeks, Kerala reported the highest number of cases at 11,726, but the number was down by 28 per cent as compared to the previous week. Similarly, Haryana reported 27 percent fewer cases with 5,203 cases, Maharashtra 33 percent with 4,117 cases, Uttar Pradesh 3,507 with 36 percent and Tamil Nadu 2,937 with 20 percent less cases.
Cases increased in these states
However, the infection increased from 2723 to 3218 in Odisha, 1087 to 1586 in Bengal and 283 to 491 in Jharkhand. Among these, there was a decline in the neighboring state of Chhattisgarh, where cases were increasing continuously in recent weeks. The number in the state has dropped from 3,122 last week to 2,606.

With a steady decline in cases in most of the states, now the danger seems to be diminishing. Active cases in the country had fallen below 50,000 by Saturday night, which were close to 68,000 on 22 April. The positivity rate had also dropped from 5.2 percent to 4.8 percent on Saturday. Delhi recorded 32 Covid-related deaths this week, while Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh reported 12 each. 11-11 deaths were recorded in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh.
