A hearing was held in the court on Monday on the matter of the presence of the idol of Lord Krishna under the stairs of Jama Masjid in Agra. The court has fixed August 28 as the next date for hearing in the case.

The case of Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Sanrakshit Seva Trust etc vs Uttar Pradesh Sunni Central Waqf Board etc pending in the Small Causes Court in Agra, Uttar Pradesh was heard on Monday. Archaeological Survey of India had earlier raised objections. After this, the court fixed 28th August for the hearing.
In the Sri Krishna Vigraha case, the application for GRP survey of the stairs of Jama Masjid is still pending in the court. During the hearing on Monday, the opposing Archaeological Department and the plaintiff’s advocate debated on the points of jurisdiction.
The court accepted the application of the plaintiffs including the order of amendment in the plaint under six rules and 17 civil procedures. Now the Archaeological Survey of India, Ministry of Culture, Government of India and Intezamia Committee Jama Masjid have become the opponents in the case.
