There is a need to confront the other accused- ED

The ED presented the AAP MLA before Special Judge Rakesh Syal and requested to send him to 10 days custody. The investigating agency said that Amanatullah Khan needs to be confronted with other accused and evidence in the case. The lawyer appearing on behalf of the AAP MLA challenged his arrest in the case.

‘AAP MLA kept avoiding giving answer’

After searching Amanatullah Khan’s residence, the ED arrested him under the provisions of PMLA at 11:20 am on Monday. The ED told the court that during the search, he was asked some questions, but he kept avoiding answering and hence he was arrested.

‘Cash was also used’

The ED said that Khan is the main accused in the entire case. The investigating agency told the court, “The proceeds of crime have been used to purchase properties and money has been laundered. Cash has also been used. An attempt was made to mislead the agency.”

’14 summons issued’

Accusing the AAP MLA of not cooperating, the agency said that 14 summons were issued to him and he appeared only once after the Supreme Court’s direction.

The money laundering case against the AAP MLA is based on two FIRs, one registered by the CBI in connection with alleged irregularities in the Waqf Board and the other by the Delhi ACB in connection with possession of disproportionate assets.
