Judge Chetna Chauhan of FTC I has sentenced four people, including two real brothers, of the village who murdered a young man 20 years ago in Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh, to life imprisonment. A fine of Rs 30,000 each has also been imposed on them. After sentencing, he was taken into custody from the court and sent to jail.

Jabar Singh, a resident of Akbarpur Ganu village of Bewar police station, was going to the village with his brother Ramlakhan on 22 September 2004 after scheduling a case under Goonda Act. On the way, Rajendra Singh, a resident of the same village, surrounded him with the help of his brother Jabar Singh and Amar Singh and Anil Kumar of the same village.

Jabar Singh was killed by firing. Ramlakhan was injured. Ramlakhan lodged a report against all four at Bewar police station. The police investigated and sent the charge sheet against all four to the court. The case was heard in the court of FTC I judge Chetna Chauhan. On behalf of the prosecution, witnesses including the plaintiff, investigator and doctor testified against all four in the court.

On the basis of the testimony and arguments of ADGC Mukul Raizada, all four were found guilty of murder of Jabar Singh and murderous attack on Ramlakhan. FTC judge Chetna Chauhan has sentenced all four to life imprisonment. A fine of Rs 30,000 each has also been imposed on them. After sentencing, he was taken into custody and sent to jail.
