Delhi has recorded 16 cases of Covid-19 sub-variant JN.1. Everyone has been kept in home isolation. The first case of Covid-19 sub-variant JN.1 was reported in the national capital last week. An official said reports of 19 samples sent for genome sequencing were received on Monday. Officials said that of these, the JN.1 variant was found in 15 samples, the XBB sub-variant in two and other variants in the rest.

The officer said that the patient was first admitted to the hospital because she was scared. He had mild symptoms. He was discharged within a few days. The 15 patients found with the JN.1 variant are in home isolation and are not experiencing any discomfort. Four of them have also recovered. The officer said there is nothing to worry about.

Earlier, Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj said that the recently reported Covid-19 cases are mild infections and there is no cause for concern. Bhardwaj said the situation in Delhi is under control and there has been no major increase in cases. The information received so far about the disease from Delhi and neighboring states shows that the cases are mild. Some people have mild cough and cold and some have mild fever. People are recovering quickly from this disease. There is nothing to worry about at the moment.

According to INSACOG data updated on Tuesday, a total of 312 cases of Covid-19 sub-variant JN.1 have been found in the country so far, of which about 47 per cent have been reported in Kerala. So far, ten states and union territories have detected the presence of the JN.1 sub-variant of the virus. Kerala (147), Goa (51), Gujarat (34), Maharashtra (26), Tamil Nadu (22), Delhi (16), Karnataka (eight), Rajasthan (five), Telangana (two) and Odisha (one).

INSACOG data showed that JN.1 was present in 279 Covid cases reported in the country in December, while 33 such cases were detected in November.
