XBB 1.5 Case in India: A new case has been found in India of the XBB 1.5 variant of COVID-19, responsible for the spurt in Corona cases in America. According to INSACOG data released on Monday (January 9), after this new case, the total number of cases of this variant in the country has increased to eight. The Indian SARS-CoV-2 Genomics Consortium (INSACOG) said a new case of the variant was detected in Uttarakhand in the last 24 hours, while earlier three cases were detected in Gujarat, one each in Karnataka, Telangana, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan.
The XBB.1.5 strain is a relative of the Omicron XBB variant, which is a recombinant of the Omicron BA.2.10.1 and BA.2.75 sub-variants. XBB and XBB.1.5 account for 44 percent of cases in the US. The INSACOG data also revealed that there were nine cases of the BF.7 strain, which is apparently responsible for the new wave of coronavirus in China.
Cases of sub-variant BF.7 also increased

Corona situation in the country
Talking about the condition of corona in the country, 170 new coronavirus cases have been found on Monday (January 9) while active cases have reached 2,371. According to the data of the Union Health Ministry updated at 8 am on Monday, the total number of cases now stands at 4.46 crore (4,46,80,094). The figures said that the death toll stands at 5,30,721 with one more death reported from Madhya Pradesh.
