Covid JN.1 Variant: The threat of the new JN.1 variant of coronavirus is continuously increasing. Former Chief Scientist of the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr. Soumya Swaminathan has said that people do not need to panic right now. In an interview given to news agency ANI, Swaminathan said that the new variant has been described as ‘variant of interest’ and not ‘variant of concern’. However, even after this, there is fear among the people about the new variant of Covid.
Swaminathan said, ‘We need to be cautious, but we also do not need to worry, because we do not have data that can show that the JN.1 variant is dangerous. We don’t even know yet whether it will cause more pneumonia or death. He said, ‘I think right now we will have to take normal measures, which we have been doing. - So far, 26 cases of JN.1 sub-variant have been reported in India. Because of this, concerns have increased. Out of 26 cases, 19 cases have been reported in Goa, 4 in Rajasthan and one case each in Kerala, Delhi, Maharashtra.
- All 19 cases of JN.1 sub-variant traced in Goa have been confirmed inactive. When genome sequencing of samples collected from patients was done, this variant came to light.
- Goa epidemiologist Dr Prashant Suryavanshi told news agency PTI that the patients with the JN.1 variant had mild symptoms and have now recovered. Somewhere this is a relief news.
- Two Covid cases related to JN.1 sub-variant were reported in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan on Wednesday. Two more cases were reported in Jaipur on Thursday. In this way this variant has entered Rajasthan.

- The joint report of Britain’s ‘Health Security Agency’ and ‘Office of National Statistics’ states that people aged between 18 to 44 years are becoming the biggest victims of Covid.
- It has been told in the report that the reason for increase in Covid cases is cold temperature, short days and mixing of people during winter season. Because of this, such an environment is being created in which Covid is spreading easily.
